News that Hilary Duff is joining the cast of Gossip Girl for a multi-episode guest arc. She’ll be playing a girl named Olivia, Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) new roommate at NYU, but that’s not all.

Inside sources tell us exclusively that Duff’s character Olivia is a movie star who just wants to live a simple peasant girl’s life at college and date a simple unfamous guy.

Lucky for Olivia, then, that Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) doesn’t know who she is and that he wants to hook up with her. Yep, not only are Dan and Serena (Blake Lively) broken up, but Dan is getting serious with this new girl Olivia.
